American Sniper Claims 2014 Top Grossing Film

It may have underperformed at this years Oscars but American Sniper can at least hold it’s head high, having just claimed the top spot of 2014’s top grossing film from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

The hard-hitting war-biopic starring Bradley Cooper as US Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle has earned $337 million in the US since it’s release last December, surpassing Hunger Games $336.8 million.

The news comes as little surprise considering Clint Eastwood’s blockbuster shattered all box-office records for January, scoring the legendary actor and director the biggest hit of his career to-date.

Even though American Sniper reigns supreme at the US domestic box-office for 2014, it is some way off the total of $1.1 billion made worldwide by Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction.
