Chris Pine Set for Green Lantern Reboot

He appears to be the only thirty-something Chris in Hollywood that hasn’t fronted his own superhero franchise – Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth…they’ve all donned a costume to fight evil.

He’s played Captain Kirk J.J. Abrams Star Trek franchise, but now it seems Chris Pine may get his day in the spotlight as rumours of his involvement in the new Green Lantern reboot have begun to gather momentum.

DC Comics has been looking to reboot the franchise ever since the previous blockbuster, starring Ryan Reynolds, bombed at the box-office, taking only $220 million worldwide despite costing almost $200 million to make.

There of course has been no official word regarding the project, and Warner Bros Studios have yet to confirm whether or not the new reboot will feature Hal Jordan, as portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in 2011, or his pre-desessor John Stewart – the latter of which has already been the subject of debate with Tyrese Gibson and Common expressing their interest in the character, should he be chosen to front the reboot.

A decision on the franchise is likely to be soon though as Green Lantern remains the only character from the upcoming Justice League films not to be cast. Stars including Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot have ready signed up for the two-part blockbuster, the first of which is due out in 2017.

Only time will tell who will be chosen, but it looks like Chris Pine is currently the front runner – members of the Justice League can be seen next year when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits cinemas worldwide.
