Exclusive Cast Photo From Suicide Squad Revealed

It appears production on the hotly anticipated DC Comics franchise Suicide Squad is moving along nicely – so nicely in fact that director David Ayer has just released the first in-costume cast photo.

The superhero blockbuster, which stars some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Will Smith, will chart the back story of the Suicide Squad, an infamous group of villains forced to fight some of the ugliest battles on behalf of the U.S. Government.

Despite the key details related to the film’s plot still evading curious minds, it will tell somewhat of a back story to how the covert Government task force was formed – something fans of CW’s hit show Arrow will know, having already seen glimpses of the black-ops group in the latest series.

The first photo of the cast was released yesterday by the films directed David Ayer and shows characters such as Deadshot (Smith), Harley Quinn (Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) – a couple of hours after its release on social media, Will Smith also released an exclusive pic of his character Deadshot in full attire.

There was however one obvious missing member in the form of Jared Leto’s Joker, who unofficially leads this rebellious band of criminals, and who has been one of the most talked about characters since the films announcement last year – not surprising considering the last time we saw the Joker was in Christopher Nolan’s Award-winning Dark Knight Trilogy – you’ll remember the late Heath Ledger giving a performance so chilling and world-class that it earn’t him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Now, until recently it wasn’t known if Suicide Squad would be released as a stand-alone film or a continuation of 2013’s Man of Steel and the upcoming juganaught Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice storyline. Well the question has been answered in the form of a leaked snap of Ben Affleck visiting the Toronto set a couple of weeks back, confirming rumours that his older Batman character would feature in the film in some capacity.

Fans of the comics will already be aware that most of the notorious Suicide Squad conglomerate owe their involuntary membership to the secretive government agency, known as A.R.G.U.S, thanks, mostly in part, to the Caped Crusader’s unwavering desire to clean up the streets of Gotham – so it makes sense that we’d see at least something of Batman in the upcoming release.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Earns $200 million, Furious 7 Remains Top

The Avengers franchise is no stranger to setting records, with the first outing back in 2012 shattering a whole number of box office records during it’s release – it’s Furious 7 however that  seems hellbent on leaving its box office mark.

Avengers: Age of Ultron has seen it’s first weekend open to an astonishing $200 million internationally from a release that covers 44 different territories including the UK – certainly great new for Marvel Studios, who only 10 years ago were on the brink of bankruptcy.

Figures for its domestic (US) release will be calculated when Age of Ultron hits North American theatres this Friday, but it’s looks set to surpass its predosessor’s $207 million opening weekend back in 2012.

Despite the Avengers sequel set to make waves this weekend, it’s Fast and Furious 7 that refuses to bow out of the box office race – the seventh film in the hit series has become only the third film in history to earn over $1 billion outside the U.S. Starring Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and the late Paul Walker, Furious 7 has held the domestic box office top spot for over four weeks now, a truly incredible achievement, though one that is sure to change next week.

Bond Turns Down Sony

We all know James Bond and gadgets go hand in hand, like Boybands and bad haircuts, the two are virtually one in the same – so you can understand that for most global giants, Bond is the ultimate platform to sell the next big thing on the market.

But recent news has proven that it takes more than just a lump of money to entice the world’s greatest secret agent to endorce your product, as Sony recently found out.

UK based website Mashable claims to have intercepted some secretive documents from the Japanese tech giant, referring to a rather embarressing business proposal between Sony’s mobile devision and 007 himself, Daniel Craig.

It appears that Sony recently offered Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes a whopping £5 million to use their upcoming Xperia smartphone in Spectre, only to have the pair turn down the offer on the grounds that the phone isn’t ‘cool enough’ for James Bond.

For decades the franchise has prided itself on using the best of the best when it comes to gadgets – from Aston Martin’s and BMW’s to Omega watches and Armani suits, Bond has ensured he’s the world’s number one trend setter – he is a secret agent after all.

Exactly what phone Bond will use in the soon-to-be-released Spectre is anyone’s guess, but reports suggest Samsung have struck a deal which will certainly be good news for the South Korean manufacturer who are currently battling market leader Apple for the number one spot.

Check out the teaser trailer for Spectre here.

Vin Diesel Confirms Fast and Furious 8

It was enevitable that, despite the loss of one of it’s most loved stars, the Fast and Furious franchise still had something left in the tank – especially considering the seventh film in the series broke the billion-dollar mark at the box office.

Little has been spoken of another sequel so far, not surprising considering the franchises stars have been in a suspended state of mourning the last year and a bit after the tragic passing of their co-star Paul Walker. Any many believed that the perhaps much of the cast, including Vin Diesel, would perhaps step away from Universal’s most successful franchise.

Well it’s seems we were wrong – Vin Diesel has recently confirmed at CinemaCon that an eighth blockbuster is in the making and that the star will very much be a part of it, continuing on the legacy he helped build with best friend Paul Walker. Great news for all the adrenaline-fulled fans out there who can expect to see the next instalment when it’s hits cinemas April 14, 2017.

Avengers: Age of Ultron End Credit Scene Leaked?

If you believe in the shody quality of a new potential leak, this time hitting Marvel’s soon-to-be released Avengers: Age of Ultron, then it would appear that no film is safe in the rapidly evolving technological world.

The news comes only a couple of days after the leak of the much anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer days ahead of its intended release date of today (Mon 20th) that saw creator Zack Snyder revise his marketing strategy.

Many have been quick to dismiss the leaked Avengers footage as nothing but a hoax – however, the scene in question features a very important character set to join be Marvel universe – though for the sake of those of you who wish you be surprised when you see the film, I will refrain from spilling the ‘classified’ details.

Whether you believe the footage to be real or not, the recent leakes of top Hollywood films will raise questions of whether or not, in a digital age such as ours, early screenings for journalists and critics should still take place, especially if they are to preserve some of filmmakers best kept secrets and surprises.

Game of Thrones Crowned King of TV

Game of Thrones made its much anticipated return to TV this week with its Season 5 opener that broke viewing figure records for Sky Atlantic, the home of GoT in the UK.

The British lead series saw 1.67 million viewers tune in for the season opener on Monday, a 26% increase on last year – not bad considering the first four episodes were leaked online ahead of the official launch in the UK, one night after the U.S.

To some the figures may seem low, but  considering the adult nature of the show and the fact that it’s the most pirated show in history, it’s not a bad victory for Sky who are currently battling online rivals such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The award-winning fantasy series, based on the novels of George R.R. Martin, has become one of the most watched series around the world and has made global stars of its British talent including Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington and Lena Headey.

Blade Runner sequel set to land Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is a man unserious demand these days – not surprising considering his undeniable ability to send female pulses racing, and now reports are surfacing that The Notebook star could be set to join the sequel to Ridley Scott’s Sci-Fi cult classic, Blade Runner.

Rumours of a possible Blade Runner sequel have been making the rounds for several decades since the original’s release in 1982, and now it’s looks likely that Gosling will take his place alongside Harrison Ford, who has confirmed he’ll be returning for the sequel.

Directed this time by Prisoners (2013) visionary Denis Vileneuve, and with Ridleu Scott taking up Executive Producer duties, the much anticipated sequel will take place decades after the original that was set in a dystopian Los Angeles.

Nothing is yet known about the plot or who’s Gosling will play, but it is likely to once again centre around Ford’s character of Rick Deckard.

With Ford set to star in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens which its cinemas this Christmas, as well as recently announcing his intention to star in another Indiana Jones sequel, a release date for the Blade Runner sequel is yet to be announced – though it could be sometime yet.

Eddie Redmayne eyes Harry Potter spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’

He’s one of the UK’s hottest properties at the moment, having recently claimed Oscar success with his performance as Dr. Steven Hawking in The Theory of Everything (2014), and now it appears the young actor could be set to join the nations biggest fictional series, Harry Potter.

A couple of years ago Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling hinted at a possible movie adaption of the famous Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – now, four years after the conclusion of the world famous boy wizard series, it appears the film may have found its leading man.

Set almost seventy years before the time of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themfollows the adventures of Newt Scamander, a famous and idolised wizard who’s adventures around the world become the stuff of legend. It worth pointing out that the film is neither a sequel nore a prequel to the record breaking Harry Potter series, but instead a completely seperate extension of the captivating fictional world created by Rowling.

Despite Redmayne clearly interested in joining the project, Warner Bros. Studios, the makers behind the Harry Potter franchise, are also eyeing other potential suitors including X-Men: Days of Future Past star Nicholas Hault.

The new film, slated to be a trilogy and Rowling’s introduction to the world of screenwriting, will hopefully share in the same box-office success as its Harry Potter counterpart, who’s seven films have grossed over $7 billion worldwide.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is due to start production later this year, with a release date slated for November 18, 2016.

Official: Furious 7 smashes box-office records

It’s official! Furious 7, the six sequel in the Fast and Furious franchise, has smashed box-office records after grossing a staggering $147 million domestically in the US in it’s opening weekend, eclipsing the March record held by last years Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).

The film, the last in the illustrious yet sadly short career of Paul Walker, lies fourth in the list of greatest launches of all time with a whopping $392 million worldwide – it comes just behind The Avengers (2012) $392.5 million haul and the $394.4 million scored by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011) still way out in front with $495 million.

Even more great news for the cast is that Furious 7 has reached the $500 million milestone in less than a week and looks set to overtake Fifty Shades of Grey as 2015’s highest grossing film to date – though with Avengers: Age of Ultron opening this month, it’s probably safe to assume this title will not remain theirs for long.

Despite the mind-blowing action scenes, including the destruction of over 240 cars during the production, Furious 7‘s popularity at the box office is likely due largely in part to the sad death of it’s star Paul Walker, who tragically passed away during filming, resulting in the studio recruiting the star’s two brother’s to help transition his character out of the franchise in the most respectful and memorable way possible.

However, with a stellar cast including the likes of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Stathom, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris, it’s no surprise why people have been flocking to cinemas all over the world in their masses.

The future of this money making, record breaking franchise is yet to be confirmed, though it’s star Vin Diesel recently hinted to an eighth outing, so anything could be possible, but sadly it will always be missing one of it’s most popular and well-loved stars.

Fast & Furious Franchise Set to Continue Without Paul Walker

Furious 7 has certainly been one of the most talked about film releases in recent times, sadly though not for all the right reasons – after the tragic and unexpected passing of one of the franchises key stars, Paul Walker back in 2013, the film has been a prominent feature in the spotlight, with one major question still waiting to be answered.

Now it seems original star Vin Diesel has finally put rumours of the franchises completion to bed, with news that Furious 8 is already in the works, despite the latest instalment still yet to hit cinemas.

Perhaps not so crazy considering that the latest release of the hit super-charged action franchise is projected to break April box-office records with over a $100 million domestically (US only) in its opening weekend. A hefty haul which would eclipse the current record of $90 million held by last years Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Vin Diesel spilled the gossip regarding further sequels during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, also hinting at potential key plot points regarding a the new mysterious character of Mr. Nobody, played by franchise new-comer Kurt Russell.

What the plot will be about in Furious 8, and who will remain with it, will very much hind on how Paul Walker’s character is written out of the franchise. You can though catch Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Stathom, Kurt Russell and the rest of the original cast when Furious 7 roars into cinemas worldwide from this weekend (April 3).
