Vince Vaughn Hits a Career Low

It was bound to happen sooner or later – Wedding Crashers star Vince Vaughn has seen his new film Unfinished Business bomb spectacularly in its opening weekend at the box-office.

The comedy, which also stars Dave Franco and atom Wilkinson, is expected to walk away with just $5 million this weekend from 2,200 cinemas, marking the worst performance of any film in his career, to date.

Known for his same character performance in every film, Vaughn often sees his solo project tank, like last years box-office flop, Delivery Man, which took only $7 million in its first weekend of release. The film itself was actually an intriguing watch, I mean how can a story about a bloke that advertantly fathers 513 children after a mix up at a sperm clinic not be interesting to watch – it also probably helped that Hollywood golden-boy Chris Pratt delivered yet another awesome performance.

However Unfinished Business, which follows a group of down-and-put businessmen who travel to Germany to try and save their floundering company, looks set to be as bad as the trailer makes out.

Perhaps it’s time for Vince Vaughn to step out of his cemented comfort zone and explore the kind of characters he portrayed early on his career – such as his character Rick Barnes in the 2001 thriller Domestic Disturbance.

10 Minutes on the Set of Avengers: Age of Ultron

The biggest film of the decade is just around the corner, so it’s not surprising that exclusives from the worlds biggest movie studio, Marvel, would start flodding in – as if our excitement for this film couldn’t be any bigger than it already is.

Entertainment Tonight has recently posted new footage from the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron – exclusive interviews with cast members Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, tour of the top secret sets and insights into key plot points.

Check out the exclusive videos below. Avengers: Age of Ultron hits cinemas worldwide from May 1, 2015.

Iron Man set for Spider-Man reboot

No-one can deny the overwhelming popularity of the superhero blockbusters – especially when reboots such as the recent Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel and The Amazing Spider-Man proved to be untapped goldmines for studios.

It is however baffling that only 3 years after a new reboot of the popular web-slinging Spider-Man hit cinema screens around the world with Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) in the title role, Sony Pictures are now looking to once again re-launch the brand from the beginning.

Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield have both worn the Spider-Man suit in successful franchises.

The Amazing Spider-Man proved to be a shrewd move for Sony back in 2012, with the film raking in over $700 million worldwide during it’s release and gathering incredible reviews from audiences and critics alike. For all-intense purposes at the time, The Amazing Spider-Man trilogy looked set to be far more successful than it’s predecessor back in the early 00’s that starred Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.

Alas, it appears nothing is safe in this day-an-age as Andrew Garfield’s rain as Peter Parker is at an unexpectedly abrupt end, and a new, younger version is on the horizon.

So what next then?… well for starters Sony Execs have reportedly acquired the talents of Daredevil (TV, 2015) creator and former Joss Whedon (The Avengers) prodigy Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, World War Z) to pen the script and take over the directors helm of this upcoming re-boot, which is currently entitled ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’ – here’s hoping they change it.

Denzel Washington teams up with Training Day co-star

It was one of the most explosive on-screen partnerships in film history, and earned Denzel Washington his second Academy Award for his unforgettable performance as a dangerously corrupt cop.

Now pioneering action director Antoine Fuqua is about to re-team his Training Day stars Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke in his up-coming remake of the classic Western, The Magnificent Seven.

Chris Pratt will star alongside Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke in The Magnificent Seven remake.

This remake of the classic western, which already has Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt signed up, was originally made famous by Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen back in 1960 and followed the story of seven strangers who band together to protect a small Mexican village from the wrath of a notorious bandit and his henchmen.

With writers John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr Banks) and Nic Pizzolatto (one of the award-winning writer behind the critically-acclaimed TV series True Detective) penning the script, this remake looks set to be a hit when it’s released next year.

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Hits Big But Can’t Beat Older Brother

Any time you put a mammoth all-star cast in a superhero blockbuster it’s certain to make a lot of cash, especially if it’s Marvel – and the latest installment of the multi-billion dollar franchise proved just that.

Despite recording a massive $188 million opening weekend in the States, an insane amount of money in its own right, the sequel to Avengers: Assemble (2012) couldn’t out perform its big brother’s $208 million haul and take the number one spot of biggest opening weekend in history.

There is a silver-lining for Marvel Studios though, as the Hollywood giant can now stake claim to both the first and second spot in this highly sought after record.

The slightly lower than expected performance by ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ could be attributed to the colossal weekend of sport in the US that saw not only the Kentucky Derby take place but also the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight at the MGM Grand, billed as the ‘Fight of the Century’ – these key factors could have attributed to fewer turnouts than that of Avengers: Assemble.

Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Co. return for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Regardless of it’s ‘second best’ opening weekend, Avengers: Age of Ultron will almost certainly be on track to break the billion dollar mark worldwide during it’s release.

Exclusive Cast Photo From Suicide Squad Revealed

It appears production on the hotly anticipated DC Comics franchise Suicide Squad is moving along nicely – so nicely in fact that director David Ayer has just released the first in-costume cast photo.

The superhero blockbuster, which stars some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Will Smith, will chart the back story of the Suicide Squad, an infamous group of villains forced to fight some of the ugliest battles on behalf of the U.S. Government.

Despite the key details related to the film’s plot still evading curious minds, it will tell somewhat of a back story to how the covert Government task force was formed – something fans of CW’s hit show Arrow will know, having already seen glimpses of the black-ops group in the latest series.

The first photo of the cast was released yesterday by the films directed David Ayer and shows characters such as Deadshot (Smith), Harley Quinn (Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) – a couple of hours after its release on social media, Will Smith also released an exclusive pic of his character Deadshot in full attire.

There was however one obvious missing member in the form of Jared Leto’s Joker, who unofficially leads this rebellious band of criminals, and who has been one of the most talked about characters since the films announcement last year – not surprising considering the last time we saw the Joker was in Christopher Nolan’s Award-winning Dark Knight Trilogy – you’ll remember the late Heath Ledger giving a performance so chilling and world-class that it earn’t him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Now, until recently it wasn’t known if Suicide Squad would be released as a stand-alone film or a continuation of 2013’s Man of Steel and the upcoming juganaught Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice storyline. Well the question has been answered in the form of a leaked snap of Ben Affleck visiting the Toronto set a couple of weeks back, confirming rumours that his older Batman character would feature in the film in some capacity.

Fans of the comics will already be aware that most of the notorious Suicide Squad conglomerate owe their involuntary membership to the secretive government agency, known as A.R.G.U.S, thanks, mostly in part, to the Caped Crusader’s unwavering desire to clean up the streets of Gotham – so it makes sense that we’d see at least something of Batman in the upcoming release.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Earns $200 million, Furious 7 Remains Top

The Avengers franchise is no stranger to setting records, with the first outing back in 2012 shattering a whole number of box office records during it’s release – it’s Furious 7 however that  seems hellbent on leaving its box office mark.

Avengers: Age of Ultron has seen it’s first weekend open to an astonishing $200 million internationally from a release that covers 44 different territories including the UK – certainly great new for Marvel Studios, who only 10 years ago were on the brink of bankruptcy.

Figures for its domestic (US) release will be calculated when Age of Ultron hits North American theatres this Friday, but it’s looks set to surpass its predosessor’s $207 million opening weekend back in 2012.

Despite the Avengers sequel set to make waves this weekend, it’s Fast and Furious 7 that refuses to bow out of the box office race – the seventh film in the hit series has become only the third film in history to earn over $1 billion outside the U.S. Starring Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and the late Paul Walker, Furious 7 has held the domestic box office top spot for over four weeks now, a truly incredible achievement, though one that is sure to change next week.

Bond Turns Down Sony

We all know James Bond and gadgets go hand in hand, like Boybands and bad haircuts, the two are virtually one in the same – so you can understand that for most global giants, Bond is the ultimate platform to sell the next big thing on the market.

But recent news has proven that it takes more than just a lump of money to entice the world’s greatest secret agent to endorce your product, as Sony recently found out.

UK based website Mashable claims to have intercepted some secretive documents from the Japanese tech giant, referring to a rather embarressing business proposal between Sony’s mobile devision and 007 himself, Daniel Craig.

It appears that Sony recently offered Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes a whopping £5 million to use their upcoming Xperia smartphone in Spectre, only to have the pair turn down the offer on the grounds that the phone isn’t ‘cool enough’ for James Bond.

For decades the franchise has prided itself on using the best of the best when it comes to gadgets – from Aston Martin’s and BMW’s to Omega watches and Armani suits, Bond has ensured he’s the world’s number one trend setter – he is a secret agent after all.

Exactly what phone Bond will use in the soon-to-be-released Spectre is anyone’s guess, but reports suggest Samsung have struck a deal which will certainly be good news for the South Korean manufacturer who are currently battling market leader Apple for the number one spot.

Check out the teaser trailer for Spectre here.

Vin Diesel Confirms Fast and Furious 8

It was enevitable that, despite the loss of one of it’s most loved stars, the Fast and Furious franchise still had something left in the tank – especially considering the seventh film in the series broke the billion-dollar mark at the box office.

Little has been spoken of another sequel so far, not surprising considering the franchises stars have been in a suspended state of mourning the last year and a bit after the tragic passing of their co-star Paul Walker. Any many believed that the perhaps much of the cast, including Vin Diesel, would perhaps step away from Universal’s most successful franchise.

Well it’s seems we were wrong – Vin Diesel has recently confirmed at CinemaCon that an eighth blockbuster is in the making and that the star will very much be a part of it, continuing on the legacy he helped build with best friend Paul Walker. Great news for all the adrenaline-fulled fans out there who can expect to see the next instalment when it’s hits cinemas April 14, 2017.

Avengers: Age of Ultron End Credit Scene Leaked?

If you believe in the shody quality of a new potential leak, this time hitting Marvel’s soon-to-be released Avengers: Age of Ultron, then it would appear that no film is safe in the rapidly evolving technological world.

The news comes only a couple of days after the leak of the much anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer days ahead of its intended release date of today (Mon 20th) that saw creator Zack Snyder revise his marketing strategy.

Many have been quick to dismiss the leaked Avengers footage as nothing but a hoax – however, the scene in question features a very important character set to join be Marvel universe – though for the sake of those of you who wish you be surprised when you see the film, I will refrain from spilling the ‘classified’ details.

Whether you believe the footage to be real or not, the recent leakes of top Hollywood films will raise questions of whether or not, in a digital age such as ours, early screenings for journalists and critics should still take place, especially if they are to preserve some of filmmakers best kept secrets and surprises.
